So the main thing, the bed is beautiful, just what I was looking for something simple but a little different. It has thick sides and footboard making it feel a bit more luxurious, the little storage and USB charging in the headboard is a really nice little 'extra' touch, and the fact it's basically flat on the floor so not collecting dust or needing to coax the cats out from under it. I also really like having an ottoman bed as having that extra storage is always so helpful.
Assembly on the other hand was hard. Though in fairness I did it myself because I was inpatient and didn't want to wait until the following day when my partner was home. There were a lot more 'parts' than I was expecting (having assembled a guest bed the day before), it was also maybe unsurprisingly very heavy.
The first step was to bolt together the sides and footboard, not that hard but harder than it has been when I've assembled other beds. Partly as these join at a diagonal angle rather than just side to side, which to be fair is one of the things I like about the finished look of the bed.
The biggest problem I had, which the instructions didn't really work for, is at one point, once you've assembled the whole thing you're supposed to tip it on it's side to attach some feet. Aside from that being VERY difficult with the weight, when you try turning the headboard on it's side in a normal house (i.e. one without 14 ft ceilings) you can't, it just hits the ceiling. The bed is beautiful. Sturdy and good quality. Unfortunately it arrived with a visible black mark that doesn’t seem to go away. Bad luck!
