Keep on reading to see our new products, and a few must-know tips when it comes to care and styling.

Kiki Real Leather Bar Stools

Firstly, take a look at Kiki. With a sleek silhouette, the Kiki real leather bar stools are made for modern, minimal interiors. With a considered, simple footrest and flat penny base, the details bring a touch of elegance as much as the real leather seat. The Kiki real leather bar stools come in Cool Grey or Putty grey to suit many interior styles.   Kiki Real Leather Bar Stools in Putty Grey

Styling Tips:

  • These bar stools are simple, so keep styling reflective of this. Clean silhouettes and simple shapes will really bring this look to life.

  • Contrast the cold metal base with soft, inviting textures and rich colours for a balanced style.

Cleaning Tips:

  • A gentle wipe with a damp, soapy cloth is more than enough to clean both the real leather and stainless steel base.
  • Ensure not to leave spills sitting on the surface, as this can cause staining.
  • Never rub, always dab your leather to protect the surface.
  • Always use a leather protector on new, clean stools. This will add an extra level of protection against any spills.
  • Keep real leather conditioned with a balm or cream. Once or twice a year, give your real leather bar stools a clean and condition to keep the leather subtle and looking newer for longer.

The Arlo also has a more structured footrest for added comfort.   Arlo Real Leather Bar Stool Close-up

Why Choose Real Leather Bar Stools?

Leather is a naturally hard wearing material, making it perfect for busy family life. Unlike faux leather, real leather is much thicker, so will not rip or peel and, if properly cared for, will last for years to come. Real leather furniture can be more expensive than faux leather. However, it's important to remember you're buying a product to last. Faux leather is more cost-effective for quickly changing trends, whereas real leather bar stools are an investment and usually a classic design which won't date. How to Choose the Right Bar Stool for Your Home
August 4, 2017 at 11:22 am 0

Danetti Bar Stools

A staple seating choice in many kitchens and dining room interiors, a bar stool is no longer just a seat you'll find tucked around the bar at your local pub!

Taller than your average chair, bar stools often have adjustable heights and a footrest to support your feet when seated. The height and narrow shape of bar stool seating have made them ideal for use at bars and at high tables in pubs, but in recent years bar stools have increasingly found a place in the home, generally around a kitchen island, counter or a home bar. Wooden and metal bar stools, stainless steel and chrome styles, and adjustable height features are all very popular, so there are plenty of shapes and designs of bar stools to choose from. So whether you’re wondering how to style a bar stool in your home, what bar stool height is right for your counter or whether to have a fixed height or gas lift seat, you’ve come to the right place! This blog post, along with our handy Bar Stool Pocket Guide, is packed full of bar stool sizing and styling tips. So sit back and relax as we guide you on how to find the perfect bar stool for your home.

What's the Right Size Bar Stool for My Kitchen?

First things first; measurements. You could find the comfiest bar stool but if it doesn’t fit, then it’s not going to be right for your home. So when it comes to bar stool sizing, there are a couple of key measurements to consider:
  • 1) Height (we’ll talk about fixed and gas lift later)
  • 2) Seat width (from side to side)
  • 3) Seat height (this is from the floor to the top of the seat)
  • 4) Seat depth (the back to the front)
  • 5) Back height (so the height of the backrest)
  • 6) Footprint (how much room the base of the stool occupies)

Curva Bar Stool, £149

If you’re buying a bar stool online, most websites will list all of these vital measurements. However, if there are any missing there’s no harm in ringing up and finding out. It’s best to know your sizing before hand than ordering a bar stool that doesn’t fit! Top Tip: As a general rule, it’s best to allow about 15 cm between bar stools for a comfortable seating arrangement. If the stools swivel, you’ll need a little more space for the seat to rotate. It’s also a good idea to consider how often you’ll be using the stools. Will it be for everyday dining or special occasions and drinks with friends? This will help you decide what type of bar stool you need.

What’s the Difference Between Counter Height and Bar Height Bar Stools?

There are two main bar stool heights: counter height and bar height. Do check these measurements because they are different. A counter height stool is more suited to a kitchen worktop counter and is generally 58cm - 71cm from the floor to the seat. This sizing means it should be used with a surface that is between 88cm - 93cm high. On the other hand, bar height refers to higher bar areas. A stool of this size is generally 73cm - 81cm from the floor to the seat. This should be used with a surface that is between 104cm -109cm high.

Fixed Height, Gas Lift or Cantilever?

Fixed Height Elise Barstool, Fondi Gaslift Barstool, Black Chrome Form Cantilever Bar Stool

There’s really no right or wrong choice when it comes to choosing a fixed height, gas lift or cantilever bar stool, it’s more about what works best for you and your setting. A gas lift offers a bit more flexibility while a fixed height stool will help keep your space looking uniform. A cantilever stool is something a little bit different and will instantly add a contemporary vibe to your room. Here’s a quick run down of the features and benefits of each.

Gas Lift Bar Stool

The main benefit of a gas lift bar stool is its adjustability. You’re not set at one height so you have a bit more flexibility when it comes to matching up with counter heights. A gas lift mechanism also means that the individual sat on the stool can adjust the seat to suit them.

Serroni Trendy Gas Lift Barstool, £139

Top Tip: Gas lift bar stools are usually on a pedestal base. Remember to account for the stools footprint when you are planning out your space, as some have a wider bottom half.

Fixed Height Bar Stool

A fixed height stool does what it says on the tin: it’ll always be at a fixed position. This can be really beneficial if you can find a stool that matches your counter height, as you’ll have a seat that’s always at the optimum height and a comfortable position. Generally more lightweight than gas lift bar stools, a fixed height stool is also much easier to move and reposition around your breakfast bar or in your dining area.

Teora Bar Stool, £99

Top Tip: If you're sure you don't need the function and you are conscious of a budget, save yourself a few pounds and stick to a fixed height rather than gas lift stool.

Cantilever Bar Stool

Okay so cantilever bar stools technically come under fixed height stools, but we thought this seat deserved a special mention. Unlike a fixed height bar stool, a cantilever base will provide a gentle bounce when seated. It’s not as much movement as a gas lift, but it’s enough to add an extra bit of comfort. A cantilever stool is great for opening up the area around your breakfast bar, so consider this if you’d like to create a really clean and spacious look. This is because cantilever stools have less of a visual impact so free up lots more space.

Form Chrome Barstool, £89

Top Tip: A stool with a flat front, such as our Form Chrome Bar Stool, can sit close to the panel of a breakfast bar when not in use, keeping the area looking effortlessly sleek and neat.

What Style of Bar Stool Should I Choose?

With so many different shapes and styles of bar stool available, you really will be spoilt for choice! To make your selection a bit easier, we’ve done the edit on a variety of bar stool styles:

Armrests

A bar stool with armrests will offer that extra bit of support when seated. It also offers a more encompassing seat sit that is super supportive. Often bar stools with armrests have a deep seat which creates such a generous and luxurious feel. This will allow friends and family to sit comfortably on your bar stools for even longer.

Savina Chrome Gas Lift Barstool, £179

Back and Backless

A backless bar stool can neatly be tucked under your counter or breakfast bar making it a great space saver. A backless seat will also have less of a visual impact in your room. If you’re after more support, a bar stool with a backrest of 30cm or more is ideal for lumbar support and added comfort.

Form Black Chrome Barstool with Back Rest, £169

Anzio Gas Lift Blackless Barstool, £139

Footrest

A bar stool with a footrest will offer that extra bit of help getting onto the stool and will also provide a place to comfortably rest your feet when seated. There are loads of different styles available so it’s best to think about what will work within your interior.

What Material Bar Stool Should I Choose?

Faux leather Bar Stool

Easy to clean and maintain, faux leather bar stools are usually available in a whole variety of colours. Faux leather is a little lighter on the purse than real leather so this might be a better option if you’re updating your home on a budget.

Neat Stitch Detail on the Form Chrome Barstool, £89

GREAT FOR - easy cleaning and everyday use. Faux leather is a really popular material choice as it’s ideal for seating that’s used every day. HOW TO CLEAN - Use a damp microfibre cloth and a mild detergent such as washing up liquid. Regular cleaning will help to prevent a buildup of surface marks.

A Real Leather Bar Stool

You’ll really feel the difference when you’re sat in a real leather bar stool, and it’s strength and durability means that it has great longevity. What’s more, this stunning material actually gets better with age.

Monti Real Leather Barstool, £169

GREAT FOR - style and longevity. At a slightly higher price point, a real leather bar stool is an investment piece. If you spend a lot of time in your kitchen and want to create a “heart of the home” kind of feel, it’s definitely worth buying the best you can afford. HOW TO CLEAN - Use an absorbent cloth or sponge to wipe the affected areas. If you really want to give your leather some TLC, it’s worth investing in a leather maintenance kit which will look after the leather before, during and after cleaning.

A Plastic Bar Stool

Perfect for families, a plastic bar stool is so easy to wipe clean. Plastic bar stools are usually available in a range of colours so are a great opportunity to inject some colour into your space.

Finn Bar Stool

GREAT FOR - Hygiene for families. Most plastic bar stools can withstand the use of harsher chemical based cleaners such as bleach, making plastic stools perfect for quick and easy clean ups after busy family mealtimes. HOW TO CLEAN - Mild household cleaning sprays, furniture wipes, or even baby wipes are fine to use on plastic bar stools. After cleaning, dry your plastic chairs thoroughly to avoid having to deal with stubborn water marks

Oak Bar Stool

An oak bar stool has such a wonderfully warm and tactile quality and is ideal for adding a really welcoming and homely feel around your breakfast bar.   "<yoastmark

Oak Barstool, £79

GREAT FOR - Adding an element of texture to a modern kitchen or coordinating with a slightly more traditional or Scandi inspired design. HOW TO CLEAN -  A regular light dusting with a soft cloth will remove any dust or bits caused by everyday use. When it comes to cleaning,  wipe up any marks immediately with a soft slightly dampened cloth. We advise that you don’t use household cleaning products unless they are specifically designed for use on real oak furniture, as they can potentially damage the wonderfully smooth surface of the oak.

What Material Base Should I Choose?

Chrome Bar Stool

A chrome bar stool will add a really modern and contemporary feel to your space, due to its bright and reflective quality.

Form Chrome Barstool, £89

GREAT FOR - creating a really modern and bright look. If you have chrome finishes in your kitchen or dining chairs, it’s great to tie all the elements together for clean and coordinated look.

HOW TO CLEAN - Use soap and water on a soft cloth. You can always add a splash of vinegar to give your cleaning an extra boost. Don't use abrasive cleaners on your chrome bar stools as any scratches caused can potentially expose the material to the air and cause rusting.

Brushed Metal Bar Stool

Slightly more subtle than chrome, a brushed metal stool will provide a great coordinating feature, helping to create a seamless and contemporary vibe throughout your kitchen or dining area.

Fondi Brushed Steel Barstool, £139

GREAT FOR - Coordinating with brushed elements in your kitchen. The matt surface of brushed metal is a little easier to maintain than chrome as it won’t show up fingerprints as easily. HOW TO CLEAN - For every day cleaning and non-stubborn marks, you can simply use some hot (not boiling) water and a cloth or sponge to wipe over your stainless steel furniture. You can always add a little bit of washing up liquid if you cleaning needs and extra boost. Stay away from oven cleaners or products that contain chloride as this will damage the surface.

Black Chrome Bar Stool

A dark luxe take on a regular chrome finish, black chrome has such a luxurious and almost mysterious quality about it. Opt for black chrome if you’re after a more subtle alternative to silver chrome or if you want to create a really on trend look.

Elise Black Chrome Barstool, £129

GREAT FOR - creating something a little bit different. Black chrome is a great choice if you don’t want a completely matched up look, or you if you already have too many other finishes to try and coordinate with. HOW TO CLEAN - Use soap and water on a soft cloth and if the mark still doesn’t go away, we suggest using a splash of vinegar to give your cleaning that extra boost. Waxing chrome after a good clean is also very useful if you want to keep its high shine for even longer.

Q&A with Interior Designer and Presenter Julia Kendell
November 27, 2015 at 2:31 pm 0
Following the recent launch of our new  ‘Exclusively Danetti with Julia Kendell’ range, we managed to catch up with Julia during the recent shoot for the launch of our collection. We had a chat with her to find out what she thought about the collaboration and the individual products.

Why did you choose to work with Danetti?

When I am designing an interior for a client I will only specify furniture from a supplier I can trust and who I know will be reliable. The furniture also has to be aesthetically beautiful, fit the brief and it’s also got to be good value. I have to be absolutely sure that it's going to arrive on time, in good order and should anything go wrong, I have to know that the company will be on it straight away. Danetti satisfies all those criteria so I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to collaborate on a furniture collection with them.

What elements of your personal design ethos have you incorporated into this range?

My personal ethos is all about creating an emotional connection both between the interior and the inhabitants who will be using that space. The reason that’s important is because in this day and age we're all so busy and we need a home that we can retreat to at the end of the day. Somewhere you feel safe, that's also energising. So for me creating this range of furniture, creates a perfect backdrop for home life that has a sense of energy about it. And that has been really important.

How would you sum up the range?

I’d sum up the range as being a fresh and robust collection combining organic materials and glossy surfaces. I've created something that’s really energising and is just a really fabulous collection for contemporary family living.

The Peacock blue is a beautiful accent - is it a bit of a signature colour of yours?

I really enjoy designing with blue. It’s a very calming colour and because of this and because it’s very easy on the eye. It means you can use quite punchy shades to create impact and depth in a scheme without it unbalancing the whole look of the scheme and without it drawing too much attention. So yes, it's just a fabulous colour. I love it!

What elements of the process of design do you enjoy the most?

I love the entire experience of designing and putting this collection together. It has been hugely exciting for me. Of course I suppose nothing beats the moment when you’ve done all the concept drawings, you’ve had all the meetings and then suddenly the pieces arrive and you can unwrap them and see them in the flesh. It's just so exciting.

How important was it to you that these products were affordable?

Affordable design has always been at the heart of my work. When I first started out in the industry a very long time ago it was very much an elitist sport. Only the very wealthy could afford to have really beautifully designed pieces of furniture and interiors and of course there's no reason why everybody shouldn’t have a beautiful home. So throughout my career, I’ve always championed really good quality design at good value.

What does good design mean to you?

Good design to me is creating a balance between something being aesthetically very pleasing (so it's satisfying all the senses I suppose, something that feels good, that’s tactile, that looks great, sometimes that smells great too) and also being functional and practical. You want something that makes you feel a whole emotional connection.

How do you see these products integrating with the modern family?

I think that the dining table and the space around it is really underestimated. In this day and age when families are so busy and when the illuminated screen is such a draw - we need to be able to have family time around the dining table. It’s one of those moments when we can really connect as a family. It’s the place where you have Xmas lunches and birthday dinners. You can sort out problems and share experiences. Frankly, it is where memories are made, family memories and that is so, so important.

What do you think of the bar stools?

I am particularly thrilled with the bar stools. It’s really difficult actually to find the perfect bar stool. One that you can move easily, is comfortable, looks great, but these bar stools I think are spot on. They’re very easy to move around. Plus, they’re light as anything but they are very robust and you know they are going to last and they look fantastic. Even just the tiniest detail like the beautiful stitching around the seat. They’re absolutely stunning -I'm so so pleased with them!

How about the sideboards:

The sideboards have been designed with detail in mind and they will satisfy even the most discerning client. The chamfered detail throughout the whole piece is just beautiful. Whats more the 'soft close' mechanism and the super smooth sliding door are great too. It’s just so lovely to use. I love the combination of the materials as well. The gloss, and the matt and the timber I think just works so beautifully together. And of course there are a lot of surprising little details as well like the mirrored backs on some of the pieces - just beautiful…

What do you like best about the table selection?

For the cost of the Arc round table, the price I think is quite amazing. I haven’t seen such beautiful veneer detailing on a table at that price - ever! So just how lovely to be able to have such a stunning piece in your kitchen or dining room. The Zen table is a contemporary spin on the classic trestle table it is the perfect size for a family or a group of friends. I wanted to keep the lines nice and simple and straightforward - it’s just perfect.

The chairs are so elegant, how do you feel about the results?

Comfort is so important when it comes to sitting at a dining table. The design of the Form Dining chair really focus's on this. It's available with and without arms and the detailing again is really really superior. Particularly the way the frame follows the curvature around the back, it’s just the most beautiful chair. Definitely designed with comfort very much in mind. We all like to spend time at the dinner table, nobody wants their friends or family to feel uncomfortable. Therefore the design makes you feel like you want to spend hours at the dining table. So there you have it! Our Exclusively Danetti range with TV Interior Designer and Presenter Julia Kendell in all it's glory. If you want to see more, head over to Danetti.com for more.

How To Care For…Different Types of Leather
August 19, 2013 at 11:51 am 0
There are many different types of leather that all have different properties and styles. We offer a wide range of furniture that is upholstered in gorgeous leather and faux leather. Take a look at our guide to looking after the different types of leather. Faux Leather

Lilly Faux Leather Dining Chair £89.00

Faux Leather is made from synthetic materials meaning it is very durable - perfect for the domestic and commercial market. It has a similar look and feel to real leather but faux leather furniture is usually less expensive. Faux Leather can crack and split, especially if the furniture is placed in direct sunlight. All you will need to keep your faux leather furniture looking great is a bucket of warm soapy water and a soft cloth to wash your faux leather with, ensuring you clean small areas at a time. You then use a dry cloth to wipe the washed areas, and you can also use a faux leather cleaner to remove specific spots. It is important to apply a protective gel to ensure the Faux Leather does not dry out. Regenerated Leather

Quad Regenerated Leather Bar Stool £94.00

Regenerated Leather has a completely smooth texture. This finish is produced when the leather goes through a manufacturing process that compresses the fibres. It is a popular choice for commercial markets as it is very hard wearing and strong, and a less expensive alternative to genuine leather. You must wipe down the regenerated leather furniture surface every two weeks with a damp, clean cloth and this will remove dirt that collects, but also be sure to dust the crevices and creases either with a vacuum cleaner or dry cloth. It is important to clean spills whenever they occur, firstly blotting the spillage and then carefully wiping it with a damp cloth. You must not use soap or abrasive cleaners as they can damage the leather. You can also apply a leather conditioner twice a year. Aniline Leather Aniline Leather is the most natural and tactile looking leather as its unique surface has the animal hide characteristics showing. As it is very soft and has been dyed, without a pigmented surface coating, it can easily soak in stains and get dirty. You must dust the Aniline Leather furniture weekly with a soft cloth or vacuum cleaner. If you stain the furniture use a damp cloth to dab off any excess and do not use household cleaning products. An Aniline Leather Protection cream can be applied to protect against staining and scratching but you must read the instructions and test it before using. Semi-Aniline Leather

Semi-Aniline is similar is Aniline Leather as the natural animal hide is still visible but it has a small amount of pigment in the surface coating or clear finish so shade variation can occur. This clear coating gives the soft leather extra protection and increased wearability. You must ensure that you dust the semi-aniline leather on a weekly basis and a damp cloth with a mild soapy solution can be used to remove dirt. If you spill something, use a damp cloth to dab off any excess but do not use household cleaning products. If you choose to a use a semi-aniline protection cream to add extra protection, you must read the instructions and test it before use. Soft Split Leather

Candess Split Leather Bar Stool £386.00

Split Leather refers to a piece of leather that has been split from the skin of the hide and depending on the thickness it can be separated into multiple layers. Because it has been split, the Leather is fragile so must be treated to make it hard wearing and durable. It can be designed to have a pattern embossed or buffed to create suede. Regularly you must wipe the split leather furniture with a damp cloth, starting from the top and moving downwards. You must then let it air dry and then buff it with a cloth that has been dampened by a leather cleaner. Any split leather that resembles suede must be cleaned with suede cleaner and a brush which is perfect for removing spots or stains. Generally it is important to keep all split leather furniture out of direct sunlight and heat and avoid using all purpose cleaners.
