As wood is a natural and unique material, it may over time change shape or colour dependant on what type of environment it is placed in.Throughout the stages of the woods life, it is sensitive to its surroundings and it is important for you to know how to help your product maintain its pristine finish.
Here is our Danetti guide to help you care for your wood
1. Avoid placing vases, glasses or ornaments onto the surface
Placing these on the surface especially during the first few months may be damaging. Often you see slight stains on wood caused by this and this is because the wood is unable to breathe.
2. Keep away from direct sunlight
The more sunlight the wood is exposed to the greater chance of discolouration, so try to place the product away from direct rays.
3. Avoid Water
Water can affect the colour of the wood, so always ensure that any spillages are immediately wiped with a damp cloth. Always be careful with wooden feet and legs on products, as they can mark floorings and carpets, especially if wet.
4. Avoid Heat
Solid wooden furniture can begin to fade over time if exposed to heat. Changes in humidity to the surroundings, placing the product near radiators and placing hot items on the surface should be avoided.
5. Remember it is a natural product
Overtime, especially with beech and pine you may see cracks in-between the grain develop. However this will not affect the quality or structure of the piece. With a material that has natural qualities it needs time to breathe otherwise it will crack. Therefore do not place any plastic or wax cloths over the surface for long periods of time.
