Turquoise is THE colour of summer 2010
The colour company Pantone announced that turquoise would be the key colour trend for 2010, and now it’s everywhere. A vibrant shade of turquoise is a great colour to have in your home or garden as it sets a summery tone and gives an upbeat vibe. Turquoise is very versatile and looks amazing with all sorts of unexpected colours such as red, hot pink, coral, chocolate, green, yellow and grey! We also think it looks great teamed with clear glass for a real water-side look.
At Danetti many of our products are available in turquoise, including this Sporta chair – a simple, elegant dining chair which has an ergonomically moulded shell in a choice of either transparent polycarbonate or glossy nylon, mounted on a chromed steel frame. With its relaxed and informal design and eye-catching range of glossy sheens, the Sporta fits well into waiting areas, cafes, modern offices or homes.
The Dorna trio set is another of our products available in turquoise – it’s a triple chair-shaped piece of modular seating with three wide, comfortable seats and supportive back rests. Several combinations can be achieved by joining other pieces from the Dorna range together.
Six of the best black dining chairs
If you want to create a contemporary dining room at home then black dining chairs are the perfect choice – they’re dark and serviceable and can be combined with either a wooden or glass dining table and because black is so neutral, you can pair it with cream or white for a monochrome look, or select a couple of other colours as accent tones.
Far from being a boring choice, black dining chairs help to create the right atmosphere in your dining space, and provide a great blank canvas for interesting interior design.
In commercial settings black dining chairs look, and are ideal for a chic contemporary restaurant or bar.
At Danetti we have a host of black dining chairs to choose from. To give you a little inspiration, we’ve chosen six that we think are particularly interesting. If you want to see the whole selection though, just click.
1. The Akia black leather dining chair
This is a cool, chic, well-designed stackable chair constructed with a chrome or aluminium lacquered metal frame. The seating and backrest are finished in either faux leather or soft split leather and come in a choice of colours including black, as pictured. This chair is suitable for home use.
2. The Agata black dining chair
The Agata is a comfortable dining chair with a stylish curved back and the solid silver powder coated aluminium or chrome legs. It’s suitable for contract and domestic use. If you choose the silver powder coated legs this chair can be used both inside or out.
3. The Regal black dining chair
The regal is a funky outdoor dining chair that would be just at home indoors. Moulded from polycarbonate, this stylish chair is strong and durable and happily marries a traditional shape with modern materials, which makes it quite a talking piece.
The Regal chair is perfect for use at home or in a commercial environment like a restaurant or bar. It is stackable up to four chairs high.
4. The Primo black dining chair
The glossy Primo chair is elegant, contemporary and versatile. It’s a next generation air-moulded chair combing advanced techniques with modern design. This process creates a high gloss contemporary look which would be perfect for a modern kitchen and equally at home in a café or restaurant.
5. The Lula black dining chair.
With its simple design, chome frame and faux black leather upholstery, the Lula dining chair will add a touch of casual luxury to your dining area.
It would work well in a minimalist interior design scheme, paired with white and other block colours. The chrome finish gives this chair a luxury edge.
6. The Karri black dining chair
The Karri dining chair is available in black, cream or brown leather and had solid wooden legs – a classic quality combination that looks great when paired with a glass dining table, or with a wooden table to match the legs.

Creating a contemporary wine bar interior: Danetti case study
We always like to champion our commercial customers, large or small. We love being able to help them create stylish and functional interiors and will happily showcase the end result on our blog.
We’ve just caught up with a recent client of ours, Andy, who runs Champers wine bar in Eastcote Middlesex.
He did a partial refurbishment of Champers using Danetti furniture, with sofas, chairs and bar stools in a combination of mulberry and cream upholstery, and says that the result is chic and sophisticated.
“We didn’t want to do a full refurb, just an update – we kept the same bar and flooring, so we wanted new furniture to give the place a new look.
“We chose the mulberry and cream colour scheme to compliment the Farrow & Ball paint we were using on the walls, and the result is a sophisticated interior, which we’ve had very positive feedback on from our regulars.
“We think the Danetti furniture definitely creates a good first impression at Champers, which is really important to us.”
If you want to check out the new furniture at Champers, or enjoy a cocktail or a bottle of wine and some live music (which is probably more likely, if we’re honest), then you can find out more about the place here, or visit them at 184 Field End Road, Eastcote.
We’ll try to get a few pictures of Champers on our blog in the near future.

How to become your own interior designer

If you want a quiet place to read, make sure you include a comfy chair in your plans. Pictured: the Leo armchair
Follow our ten steps and you won’t need to go to the expense of hiring an interior designer to make your home beautiful – you’ll be able to do it all by yourself
1. The first thing to do is to focus on what you like to do in your home – think how it gets used, or how you would like to use it if it was designed differently. Perhaps you’d like a cosy TV and games room for the kids, perhaps you want a quiet spot where you can sit and read, but don’t want to shut yourself away in the bedroom. All these considerations can form a ‘wish list’. This is really the kind of brief that you would give to an interior designer, so it’s a good place to start even when you’re doing it yourself.
2. Don’t be afraid to borrow ideas. Make a list of things you have seen that you love and would like to copy. Don’t just take inspiration from TV shows, exhibitions and magazines, but think about art galleries and museums you have visited, friends’ homes you have loved, even shops that you have felt at home in. Remembering these places and ideas can help you understand how form, texture, colour, scale, lighting and space can be combined to create something you like.

Take inspiration from everywhere, even shops. Pictured: Gieves & Hawkes shop interior on Saville Row, London.
3. Try to bring out the best in what you have and work with it, not against it. What are its best features? Perhaps it’s a view or a high ceiling? If so accentuate these features with lighting and furniture arrangement. If you have a modern house, there’s no point trying to make it ornate, or trying to create a ‘heritage’ look – you have to work with what you have.
4. Although it’s tempting to get carried away with thoughts of the fun stuff like wallpaper and soft furnishings, you really need to think carefully about the basics first. Consider flooring choice and colour, furniture shape and colour and practical things like where the plug sockets should go first – lamps and cushions can come later.

Measure up your available space and draw a plan
5. Just because you like the look of a piece of furniture does not mean it will look good in your space. Make sure you always measure your room before investing in furniture. To really make sure there are no errors, you could draw out a plan of the room to scale on squared paper, then you can draw in the furniture, so you can see exactly how it will look. At Danetti we make this easier, by always providing full measurements for our products. It’s also worthwhile measuring your doorways and stairwells – the last thing you want is for your furniture to arrive and then not to fit through the door.
6. Think of your house as a whole. Too many people isolate one room, give it a certain vibe and colour scheme, and then chose something that jars with this in the room next door. Rooms shouldn’t all be decorated the same, but it does help if there is some harmony. This is a particular skill of an interior designer, but it’s a useful habit to get into. A major advantage is that it allows you to move furniture and accessories between rooms when you fancy a change.
7. Don’t forget lighting. In most people’s homes the lighting is a ‘hidden extra’ it’s not the prominent thing you see when you walk into a room. Nevertheless, it’s crucial to the atmosphere and usefulness of a space. Always consider what you want to do in a room, for example, in a bedroom you need to make sure there is bedside lighting to read by and overhead lighting to dress by.
8. Keep your budget in mind at all times. You don’t want to run out of money half way through a renovation project, so be realistic from the outset. Some things are worth spending on – in particular flooring and furniture, while some things, including soft furnishings, will only look up-to-date for a few years, so there’s no point spending loads on them. Remember when spending on any electrical appliances and gadgets that new technology soon becomes old technology, so it’s probably not worth spending that much on the latest fad.
9. Be professional in your dealings with tradesmen. You could ask for references and ask to see their previous projects – if they are good, then they shouldn’t object. It’s useful to put your objectives in writing, this can be a useful document fall back on if things do not turn out as expected.
10. Ask for help. Independent furniture retailers such as Danetti are very familiar with the process of furnishing a home successfully. We would be more than happy to help you find the pieces that will work well together and bring out the best in your home.
Choosing a round dining table
Whether it’s just you and the kids for dinner every night, or whether you like to entertain in your home, there’s no doubt that one of the main purposes of eating together is to have a good chat.
If you want to encourage conversation at home, then a round dining table is the best choice. Guests can all see each other and can talk easily to those next to them as well as those across the other side, and it’s a much more relaxed setting – when did you ever go to a job interview and sit at a round table?
Round dining tables can look really attractive too. Since most rooms are square or rectangular, a circular table can help to soften the lines in the space and make it more interesting. They are easy to decorate – place mats layered up with different sizes of plates can look very effective, as can small arrangements of flowers or candles in the centre of the table, although you have to make sure that you’re not blocking people’s view of the other diners.
Most of our circular dining tables are ideal for four people – if you want a table that you can fit more people on, then you might like to consider getting a table with a central support, rather than legs so that people can position themselves anywhere around the table.
In terms of space, a table of 1300mm diameter will easily fit four people, six if there’s a central base. We’d advise leaving a metre all the way around your table to allow for chairs and space for people to walk around the table.
At Danetti we’ve got a great selection, from solid wood dining tables to glass-topped tables and lots of man-made options, including laminated plywood and plastic. You can use our dining table selector tool to find the table that fits all of your requirements.
