Kino coffee shop-style armchair

We were enjoying a cappuccino at a coffee shop recently and thinking about how lovely our Kino armchairs are, and how they’d look perfect in a coffee shop environment.

We thought we’d highlight this on our blog, as we know that lots of coffee shop owners and interiors designers look on the blog for inspiration.

We love the fact that the seat is slightly angled backwards, which allows you to sink deep into the chair and feel really cosy. The arms are curved – just the right amount to make them comfortable to lay your arms on them. The back is high and padded and the seat is so deeply padded, it’s one of the nicest places to sit that we’ve ever discovered (and we’ve sat on our fair share of seats).

The Kino comes in black, red, cream and brown, so you can find something that fits the vibe of your coffee shop.

The Kool plastic chair for outdoor or indoor use

If you want a designer look for your home dining room, or for your restaurant or cafe, then we think the Kool chair is a stunning choice.

The seat is made from a translucent polycarbonate material – and if you choose the clear option, it’s completely transparent, which gives a great feeling of space and is very contemporary, as you’ll see from our picture of a chic modern cafe where the Kool is being used.

Sporta dining chair, in turquoise

The colour company Pantone announced that turquoise would be the key colour trend for 2010, and now it’s everywhere. A vibrant shade of turquoise is a great colour to have in your home or garden as it sets a summery tone and gives an upbeat vibe. Turquoise is very versatile and looks amazing with all sorts of unexpected colours such as red, hot pink, coral, chocolate, green, yellow and grey! We also think it looks great teamed with clear glass for a real water-side look.

We’ve just caught up with a recent client of ours, Andy, who runs Champers wine bar in Eastcote Middlesex.

He did a partial refurbishment of Champers using Danetti furniture, with sofas, chairs and bar stools in a combination of mulberry and cream upholstery, and says that the result is chic and sophisticated.

“We didn’t want to do a full refurb, just an update – we kept the same bar and flooring, so we wanted new furniture to give the place a new look.

“We chose the mulberry and cream colour scheme to compliment the Farrow & Ball paint we were using on the walls, and the result is a sophisticated interior, which we’ve had very positive feedback on from our regulars.

Some people think that minimalism in interiors is just about not owning many things – having white walls and very few items of furniture.

The truth is that the key to a really great minimalist look lies in simply choosing the things to put in your home.

Follow our five step guide to creating a beautiful, modern minimalist interior and you’ll never look back!

1.Opt for furniture with clean lines and simple shapes. Fussy, ornate furniture can cause a room to look cluttered. If a piece of furniture is well designed and useful, it will be beautiful in its own right, not because of decoration. Key pieces to invest in are chairs made without joints or screws – something moulded and streamlined.

2. Add interest with key pieces, and make sure they are beautifully presented. Rather than opting for a patterned sofa or curtains, keep detail restricted to objects – perhaps a gorgeous ceramic vase, or a limited edition print – and display them with purpose. Perhaps you could have a simple table with the vase as the centre piece, or the print framed and illuminated with a spotlight.

3. Have a place for everything. Piles of papers are household utensils are not worth putting on show! Hide them away and it will really help you to achieve the minimalist look. It’s important to be realistic about how many possessions you have and make sure you buy enough storage.

4. Opt for colour blocks – not necessarily just white, but bright colours too. The important thing is to have  large expanses of one colour, as this adds to the uncluttered effect.

5. Don’t ignore the details. Make sure there are no outstanding DIY projects, chips in the paintwork or areas that need attention – in a minimalist scheme every aspect of the room must be neat, clean and elegant looking, or the overall effect will be lot.

We’ve all done it; been on a weekend break to some posh country house, filled with luxurious modern furniture like velvet sofas, quilted chairs and glamorous glass coffee tables; and come back deciding we’d actually like to recreate the look in our own home.

This year, the modern country house look is actually one of the key interiors trends, so we thought we’d try to help you get it just right with the use of Danetti products.

Firstly, it’s important to invest in the basics – everything should be solid and well made. You want to give the impression that these pieces of furniture are modern classics, not fads. Opt for chairs with solid wood legs, sofas with quality upholstery that will last, and large tables that are suitable for a grand family dinner.

Secondly, light, airy, slightly faded colours can work very well, as can rich red tones, so opt for duck egg blue, lemon, plum, grey and cream in some rooms and a sophisticated red, grey and black colour palette in other rooms. Add sparkle and grandeur with metallic accessories, modern chandeliers and glass tables.

Thirdly, dress the space well – use lots of plump cushions in living spaces and crisp white bed linen layered up with blankets in the bedrooms. You should also adorn the walls with individual pieces of interesting art and sculpture that look like they have taken a  lifetime to collect.

Lastly, don’t be afraid to mix classic period features like ornate bannisters and fireplaces with simple, clean, modern furniture – that way you won’t feel like you’re living in a museum, but rather a wonderful, modern and dynamic home that’s perfect for the 21st century – that is really the essence of the modern country house look.

Blade bar stool

When we get our hands on a product that we know is going to be a huge success, we like to take a moment to tell you about it. The blade bar stool is one of these products. It’s been added to the site in the last week and it’s already proving hugely popular.

The reason for its success is that it ticks a lot of boxes – the price, features, style and colour range make it a great commercial or domestic purchase.

It’s made of plastic, so it’s totally serviceable – you can just wipe it clean. Plus, it’s stackable for when not in use, it can be used both outdoors and inside, and it comes in a great range of on-trend colours.

You can either stick to one colour – this can look very effective if you’re using the Blade stools in a large space, as you can see from our photography. Alternatively, perhaps if you need to bring a colour scheme together, you can chose a variety of colours and mix and match them. We like the idea of yellow, grey and cream used together, for instance, and red and white could look very striking in the right setting too.
